AIRPORTS, HELIPORTS & TERMINAL BUILDINGS

New ICAO Category 10 International Airport

MBH Architects' latest airport design is for a new international CAT 10 (ICAO) airport in 4 phases over 20 years, including 4 new terminal buildings, 4 runways ranging in length from 2800m up to 5000m & taxiways, aprons (ramps), emergency services, fuel bays, hangers, cargo / freight terminals etc.

PHASE 1A:

The existing 1419m long runway will be upgraded to a 2800m long Cat 6 runway to facilitate immediate medium wide body aircraft such as Boeing 787 and Airbus A330, to enable limited and regional international traffic.

Terminal 1A will initially be a combined domestic, limited international and freight terminal with 20 gates distributed over 2 concourses on 2 levels, and will become dedicated to domestic and freight operations upon completion of Terminal 2, which will then facilitate full international flights.

PHASE 1B:

Terminal 1B will be joined to Terminal 1A with an additional 20 gates and 1 additional 3000m long runway will be added.

PHASE 2:

Terminal 2 will have 88 arrival and departure gates distributed between 8 concourses, A 1 & 2 - D 1 & 2, on 2 levels.

Terminals will be linked by means of a combination of sky-rail and subway trainsand Terminal 2 will have an Inter City Express (ICE) terminal linked to a major city 175km away.

The total capex expenditure for all 4 phases is estimated at US$ 15 Billion.
