CONTEMPORARY FRENCH PROVENCE AND COUNTRY STYLE CHâTEAUX

MBH International Architects have a special fondness and appreciation for French Second Empire architecture, as well as Provence and Country Style architecture and the use of the distinct French style MANSARD roof.

Due to our love for this style, and wanting to preserve its grandiouse appearance, we incorporate the distinct MANSARD roof as a feature into our design of Country Style private homes, to create a complimenting contrast between a modern super structure and the more classical roof.

Homes that we design in this style are often clad in sandstone or polished travertine, and given a modern touch with all glass balustrades and large glazed stacking facades leading out from the enclosed entertainment area onto a pool terrace, accentuating the contrast between modern and classical.

These homes / châteaux typically vary between 1000 to 3000m2 and often have between 12 to 20 bedrooms, excluding the roof area, which means that the roof space could potentially add an additional 25 to 30% additional usable space, which is not usually calculated into the permissible gross building area.
